Flight Dynamics Engineer (Space Control)

Location: Hybrid, hirify.global UK (Harwell), Didcot, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Current UK SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it is required. Relocation allowance is considered. Visa sponsorship for employees is considered.

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and maintain flight dynamics software elements for defence customer missions.
• Develop and specify flight dynamics algorithms for space control software and contribute to product feature selection.
• Capture, define, tailor, and analyze requirements, converting them into use cases and user stories.
• Support ground-segment verification, validation, integration, mission system testing, and simulation campaigns.
• Support spacecraft operations teams by resolving technical issues and providing best-practice advice.
• Act as Product Owner or Technical Officer for external suppliers, support the development team, and maintain requirements, verification, validation, and test documentation using Agile SCRUM practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Astronautics or another relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of commercial space or defence flight dynamics experience.
• Current UK SC-level security clearance or eligibility to obtain UK SC clearance or higher.
• Excellent knowledge of orbital mechanics and flight dynamics systems.
• Experience with MATLAB or similar simulation software, Python, mission analysis, and requirements definition.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Operations experience and the ability to interact with spacecraft operations engineers.
• Knowledge of project life cycles and acceptance procedures.
• Software product development experience covering requirements, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ECSS standards.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development and software engineering.
• Knowledge of commercial off-the-shelf flight dynamics systems.
• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Basic knowledge of Linux.
