Senior Software Engineer - Frontend (React)

Location: McLean, Virginia; hybrid with 3 days per week onsite. Candidates must reside in the U.S. and hold U.S. citizenship or a Green Card.

Annual base salary: $135,000–$210,000 USD.

What you will do

• Develop, scale, and maintain the DXA reporting portal and its supporting architecture.
• Lead the migration from the legacy Backbone framework to a performance-optimized React and Alchemy architecture.
• Design reusable web architectures, state management systems, and client-side algorithms.
• Architect and manage Node.js-based microservices powering the portal.
• Align frontend architecture, data handling, authentication, and security practices with FedRAMP and federal standards.
• Own projects from concept through deployment while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product and design teams.

Requirements

• U.S. residence and U.S. citizenship or Green Card required.
• 6+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining complex, high-performance web applications.
• 3+ years of hands-on React experience.
• Professional TypeScript experience with ES6+, semantic HTML5, and modern CSS methodologies.
• Experience with unit and integration testing using Jest or React Testing Library, including mocking and automated test pipelines.
• Experience designing modular frontend architectures, documenting technical designs, and presenting concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with FedRAMP, SOC 2, HIPAA, or other regulated compliance frameworks.
• Experience migrating large legacy codebases such as BackboneJS or AngularJS to React.
• Backend familiarity with Node.js and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, secure session management, CSP, and dependency scanning.
• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
