What you will do
- Design and optimize mechanical architectures for motors and actuators, including shafts, housings, bearings, gears, and transmissions.
- Perform structural, tolerance stack-up, fatigue, and bearing-support analyses across the product operating envelope.
- Apply DFM/A from concept through production and develop designs suitable for high-volume manufacturing.
- Evaluate stamping, casting, milling, and turning processes with suppliers to ensure scalable, repeatable, and cost-effective production.
- Create CAD models, GD&T-based drawings, and design documentation for components and assemblies.
- Support prototyping, testing, validation, and continuous improvement in collaboration with motor design, manufacturing, quality, and field applications teams.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably with drone, robotics, automotive, aerospace, or high-volume electromechanical products.
- Industry experience with rotating machinery, including bearings, gears, or transmissions.
- Hands-on knowledge of metal manufacturing methods and demonstrated experience designing high-volume products with DFM/A.
- Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Onshape, including GD&T.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with electromagnetism and electric motor fundamentals.
- Experience with rotor dynamics, thermal analysis, or NVH.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for motor and actuator components and assemblies.
- Hands-on experience with prototype testing, validation, and design iteration in a production environment.
