Mechanical Engineer (Factory Automation)

What you will do

• Design custom mechanical systems and assemblies for automation equipment, including tooling, fixtures, robotic cells, machine frames, and motion subsystems.
• Create 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, bills of materials, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with controls, software, project management, and manufacturing teams to define requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
• Lead design reviews, prototyping, testing, fabrication, assembly, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure designs meet functional, manufacturability, safety, and ergonomic requirements.
• Improve manufacturing reliability, efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness through automation, feasibility studies, and process simulations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in automation, robotics, or industrial equipment environments.
• 10+ years of advanced CAD experience, including GD&T implementation on 2D drawings through design review and engineering release.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and PDM; experience with NX Design, SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of machine design, motion systems, pneumatic actuators, machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly.
• Experience with robotic systems such as KUKA, FANUC, or ABB and end-of-arm tooling design.
• Must meet U.S. export control eligibility requirements and be able to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience with system integrators or custom industrial automation companies, large-part tooling, and project or ticket management.
• Knowledge of control systems, electrical drawings, automated industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to operate CNC machines and robots.
