Product Quality Engineer (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid. Domestic and international travel of up to 20% is required. Flexible consideration may be given to candidates in other locations, especially near offices such as San Francisco or New York.

What you will do

• Establish end-to-end quality strategy across hardware development, manufacturing, suppliers, and robotic fleet operations.
• Lead Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly initiatives, quality gates, FMEA, validation plans, and design improvements.
• Build IQC, IPQC, and OQC frameworks, manage supplier quality, track yield, and drive defect reduction and CAPA.
• Define reliability requirements and test strategies, including HALT/HASS, environmental, lifecycle, HIL/SIL, and regression testing.
• Establish field triage, failure tracking, escalation, diagnostics, and feedback loops between field operations, engineering, and manufacturing.
• Develop lifecycle KPIs, dashboards, anomaly detection, automated reporting, and AI-enabled root-cause workflows.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in product quality, manufacturing quality, reliability engineering, or quality program management.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related Engineering.
• Experience across NPI phases including EVT, DVT, PVT, ramp, and sustaining.
• Expertise in FMEA, SPC, CAPA, 8D, Six Sigma, reliability engineering, and failure analysis.
• Experience with component-level or system hardware, robotics, autonomous systems, supplier quality, and deployed or fleet-based systems.
• Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, risk management, and problem-solving skills in fast-moving environments.

• Experience with robotics, automation, compute, or memory design and utilization.
• Experience with fleet-based or deployed systems.
