Manufacturing Engineer (Fuel Handling System)

Location: Must be based in the United States and work on-site at the headquarters in Austin, Texas. Occasional travel to the reactor facility in Idaho is required.

What you will do

• Own the producibility of assigned welded structures, machined parts, sheet-metal components, and assembly fixtures.
• Work directly with welders, machinists, designers, assembly technicians, and test engineers on the factory floor.
• Develop work instructions, fixtures, and tooling for repeatable builds.
• Support dimensional inspection, metrology, and records of as-built configurations, deviations, and inspection results.
• Coordinate with external vendors and help build, modify, and rework prototype hardware and test rigs.
• Diagnose fabrication issues and support on-site installation and commissioning at the reactor facility.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and willing to work on-site in Austin, Texas.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on manufacturing or technician experience.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing engineering, fabrication, or shop experience.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of welding, machining, sheet metal, assembly, or inspection.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, GD&T callouts, and weld symbols.
• Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons compliant with 10 CFR Part 810 and may not hold non-compliant foreign citizenships.

Nice to have

• Stainless steel TIG welding, CNC machining or programming, and sheet-metal forming experience.
• Experience with CMMs, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, or laser trackers.
• Hands-on experience in Formula SAE, robotics, rocketry, machine shops, hardware startups, or other high-reliability industries.
• Machinist, welder, or fabrication technician experience developing into an engineering role.
