Senior System Test Engineer (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Clarksburg, Maryland, United States; willingness to travel for testing and field support up to approximately 25%.

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually, plus equity for most full-time high-demand roles.

What you will do

• Own vehicle-level test strategy for autonomy features and safety-critical functions.
• Translate system requirements and user journeys into test plans, scenario matrices, and risk-driven test permutations.
• Design and source test interfaces, instrumentation, and tooling.
• Execute testing across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop benches, and real vehicles.
• Analyze results, perform root cause analysis, and communicate risk and readiness.
• Build scripts and tools to monitor metrics, automate checks, and accelerate debugging while partnering with Systems, Software, Hardware, and Safety teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in system test, validation, integration, or V&V roles.
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting hardware or software systems.
• Proven experience designing and executing system-level tests and analyzing failures across hardware, software, and integration boundaries.
• Working knowledge of autonomous or complex cyber-physical systems, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The position may require eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 26262 or MIL-STD-882E safety standards and DoD programs.
• Understanding of perception, planning, and control subsystems in autonomous architectures.
• Familiarity with automotive electronics and Ethernet, CAN, or LIN protocols.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, data pipelines, or automated test frameworks.
