TL;DR
Senior Mission Manager (Aerospace): Directing complex spacecraft and launch vehicle customer programs from contract kickoff through delivery with an accent on technical execution, mission integration, and customer-facing program leadership. Focus on resolving critical technical anomalies, leading mission assurance and readiness reviews, and coordinating launch site and operations integration.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Occasional travel for customer meetings or hardware integration events, less than 20%.

Salary: $165,000–$205,000 per year, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

  • Own the technical execution and integration lifecycle for large-scale customer programs from kickoff through delivery.
  • Lead technical negotiations and interface with launch service providers, partners, customers, and executive stakeholders.
  • Translate customer requirements and architecture trades into executable Statements of Work with business development, mission design, and proposal management.
  • Lead customer mission assurance reviews, independent readiness reviews, and launch site and operations integration.
  • Resolve critical technical anomalies and programmatic roadblocks across active missions.
  • Build departmental frameworks, documentation standards, and cross-training initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a mission manager or program manager in the space industry.
  • Experience managing complex spacecraft or launch vehicle programs.
  • Deep understanding of primary aerospace technical disciplines and ability to lead technical customer discussions.
  • Experience coordinating regulatory and compliance teams, customer requirements, and external agency interfaces.
  • Proficiency in planning and managing complex schedules. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an applicable U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Active security clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Customer-facing experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience leading formal program milestone reviews such as PDR, CDR, and FRR.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft assembly, integration, and testing, launch operations, or spacecraft operations.
