TL;DR
Propulsion Assembly Technician II/III (Aerospace): Building and testing sub-assemblies for Rutherford rocket engines, including turbopumps, valves, plumbing, and related mechanical components with an accent on precision mechanical and electrical assembly. Focus on pressure and leak testing, bench testing, work-instruction compliance, and assembling hardware for reusable launch vehicles.
Location: Onsite at headquarters in Long Beach, California, United States. Monday–Thursday, 5:00am–3:30pm.
Base pay: $25–$40 USD per hour, California only. Level and base salary depend on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

What you will do
- Build sub-assemblies for Rutherford rocket engines, including turbopumps, valves, plumbing, thrust chambers, TVC actuators, and motor controllers.
- Build turbo pumps and rocket engines for the Neutron launch vehicle program.
- Test rocket hardware using mechanical and electrical test equipment.
- Perform assembly activities in collaboration with the Propulsion Production Manager and the wider Production organization.
- Support delivery of propulsion hardware for internal leadership, board, and investor reporting.
Requirements
- 2+ years of mechanical assembly experience for Technician II or 5+ years for Technician III in aviation, aerospace, or a similar industry.
- Experience using mechanical assembly tools, including pressure-testing equipment and welding preparation tools.
- Experience using electrical assembly tools, including bench-testing and measuring instruments.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work onsite, stand or walk for at least 8 hours, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and repeatedly bend, twist, stoop, crawl, push, pull, and handle tools or components.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lb unassisted.
Nice to have
- 8+ years of mechanical assembly or mechanical fitting experience.
- Experience with torquing, safety or lock-wire installation, work-instruction-based assembly, and proof or leak testing.
- A&P, trade, or industry certification.
- Experience with in-space mechanical assemblies.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continued product development.
