Staff Platform Engineer

Location: Melbourne, Australia; hybrid with an average of 2 days per week in the local hirify.global office

What you will do

• Own the architecture, security, integrity, and availability of foundational internal platforms including Okta, Google Workspace, Jamf, Slack, Claude Enterprise, and Glean.
• Design and improve workforce identity, access management, device trust, and endpoint controls using Terraform and automation tooling.
• Manage platform configuration and identity policies through pull requests, tested CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, branch protections, and peer review.
• Own joiner, mover, and leaver identity workflows, including HRIS integrations, provisioning rules, group structures, and downstream access.
• Build reusable modules, administrative tools, runbooks, and operating procedures for safe delegated administration.
• Own the baseline architecture of office networks across the Melbourne hub and satellite locations while providing technical leadership across Infrastructure & Identity.

Requirements

• Strong systems-thinking and architecture skills across identity, SaaS, and network architectures.
• Experience defining platform boundaries between foundational engineering and delegated IT operations.
• Strong preference for code, automation, reusable modules, and infrastructure state management over manual console changes.
• Ability to create safe tooling, clear runbooks, least-privilege access models, and reliable operating practices.
• Collaborative technical leadership skills with a player-coach approach across Security, Enterprise Architecture, Automation, and Workplace Technology.
• Pragmatic security and risk management skills that balance corporate controls with a productive employee experience.
