Staff Platform Engineer, Infrastructure (AWS/Azure)

Location: Hybrid in Long Beach, CA, or Denver, CO; at least 3 days per week onsite, with additional onsite requirements as business needs require.

Base salary: $150,000–$220,000 in Denver or $160,000–$230,000 in Long Beach, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and operate foundational multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, including account structures, guardrails, networking, and identity.
• Build self-service tooling and paved-road patterns for provisioning, deployment, and system operations.
• Author reusable Terraform modules and establish infrastructure-as-code standards for engineering teams.
• Define enterprise CI/CD, testing, deployment, and continuous delivery standards and drive adoption across teams.
• Evaluate cloud services and infrastructure platforms, making build-versus-buy decisions based on capability, compliance, and delivery speed.
• Lead, coach, and mentor infrastructure engineers while partnering with engineering, security, and IT on government compliance requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering with technical leadership experience.
• Deep experience designing and operating production cloud infrastructure at scale, with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools, reusable modules, CI/CD, testing, and deployment standards.
• Working knowledge of HTTP, ports, DNS, firewalls, security groups, cloud networking, identity, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools to deliver production code and automate routine work.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance are required; ITAR eligibility or authorization is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with containers, orchestration, service mesh, registries, observability, reliability engineering, IAM, and secrets management.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or IL4/IL5.
• Experience in government, defense, regulated environments, enterprise networking, or internal platform teams.
• Active U.S. Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
