Principal Platform Engineer - 12 Month FTC (AWS)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; hybrid workplace with blended working across home, clubhouse, and client locations.

What you will do

• Define and evolve the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for an AWS cloud platform.
• Design and build scalable, secure, resilient, and reusable platform capabilities and self-service tooling.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, software delivery, operational processes, and platform lifecycle management.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, observability, and operational efficiency.
• Lead complex platform initiatives from discovery and architectural design through implementation and operational adoption.
• Influence engineering strategy, mentor engineers, and promote platform engineering and operational excellence practices.

Requirements

• Significant experience designing and operating internal developer platforms at scale.
• Strong experience with cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, networking, identity, and security.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, automated cloud provisioning, CI/CD, and standardized engineering workflows.
• Knowledge of SRE principles, resilience, fault tolerance, observability, service-level objectives, monitoring, and alerting.
• Experience providing technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and leading complex technical initiatives.
• Experience mentoring senior and developing engineers and influencing architecture without relying solely on organizational authority.
