Process Engineer (Food Process Engineering)

Location: El Segundo, California, USA; onsite work across pilot plant, laboratory, plant facilities, and office environments. Travel of up to 25% to manufacturing facilities and suppliers may be required.

Starting annual base pay: USD $100,000–$115,000, with potential eligibility for bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, set up, and execute pilot-scale food process experiments and support new product production runs.
• Develop and scale processes from feasibility through new product introduction, commissioning, production readiness, and launch.
• Evaluate equipment and technologies, support equipment selection and procurement, and assist with installation and commissioning.
• Optimize and troubleshoot processes and equipment to achieve target product quality and manufacturing capability.
• Define process parameters, scale-up factors, mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams, specifications, and process trials.
• Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Operations on manufacturability, timelines, costs, quality, and food safety.

Requirements

• BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, or Food Process Engineering.
• 1–2 years of relevant food process engineering experience in R&D, commercialization, operations, NPI process development, scale-up, and commercial launches.
• Prior food industry experience.
• Experience with process development, scale-up, commissioning, production trials, and launch activities.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, DOE software, AutoCAD, and CFD.
• Must be authorized to work for a U.S. employer; E-Verify is used, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with GMP and SQF systems.
