What you will do

  • Design and develop mechanical systems that meet MIL-STD-810 requirements for vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental durability.
  • Perform kinematic, multibody dynamic, structural, modal, vibration, and thermal analyses for robotic and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Integrate mechanical structures with wiring harnesses, sensors, actuators, and other electromechanical components.
  • Create mechanical specifications, detailed drawings, simulation reports, and testing protocols.
  • Lead testing, validation, prototype development, and manufacturing collaboration to ensure feasible, reliable, and cost-effective designs.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews and identify mechanical and electromechanical risks early.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience, including electromechanical integration.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Advanced experience in robot dynamics, including flexible multibody dynamics, compliant mechanisms, or vibration control.
  • R&D experience in robotics or a robotic laboratory.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Reliability principles.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with MIL-STD-810 vibration, temperature, and shock testing.
  • Knowledge of MIL-S-901D naval shock testing and MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC standards.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic compatibility considerations in mechanical design.
