Systems Design Engineer - Communication & Sensing Systems- Government (RF Systems)

Location: Onsite in Tempe, Arizona or Carlsbad, California. The conditions section also lists Carlsbad, California and Duluth, Georgia.

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

• Support system-level build and analysis for communication and sensing systems.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate algorithms for signal processing, control theory, system optimization, and waveforms.
• Translate mission needs into technical requirements and engineering solutions.
• Implement and test algorithms in firmware or software under senior-team mentorship.
• Participate in system integration and bring-up activities.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, firmware, software, analysis, requirements, and integration and test teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience with a Master’s degree or comparable experience, or 5–7 years with a Bachelor’s degree, in system building, modeling, or algorithm development.
• Proficiency in C++, C, MATLAB, or Python for simulations.
• Knowledge of RF systems, signal processing, and waveform concepts.
• Active US Secret Clearance and US citizenship required.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI or SAP eligibility.
• Experience with digital hardware platforms, including processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLDs, microcontrollers, and networking interfaces.
• Familiarity with requirements flow-down, verification, and validation.
• Experience with modeling, simulation, trade studies, performance optimization, and cross-domain hardware/software integration.
