Location: Folsom, California, United States. The role involves travel of up to 10% for technical reviews, testing, or customer engagements. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility for required U.S. Department of State authorizations is required for ITAR compliance.
Salary: $115,000–$170,000 USD annually, plus a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do
- Develop high-fidelity models and control algorithms for propulsion, flight control, and guidance subsystems.
- Create simulation architectures that support design iteration, verification, validation, and requirements traceability.
- Perform controllability, sensitivity, parametric, and Monte Carlo studies for dynamic systems and flight vehicle control behavior.
- Model solid rocket motors, controllable solids, actuation systems, and mechanical, thermal, and aerodynamic subsystems.
- Support requirements derivation, margin analysis, performance trade studies, mission CONOPS, and technical reviews with DoD customers.
- Collaborate with GNC, software, systems, and test teams; mentor junior engineers and author technical documentation.
Requirements
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
- 7–10 years of experience in modeling, simulation, control systems, or estimation algorithm development in aerospace or defense.
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Strong experience with dynamic system modeling, control system design, simulation infrastructure, propulsion modeling, and basic ballistics analysis.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or equivalent modeling and control toolchains.
- Ability to work with DoD customers, lead engineering tasks across lifecycle phases, and communicate through technical documentation and presentations.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in systems engineering or a related discipline; may substitute for one year of experience.
- Experience with Department of Defense, Missile Defense Agency, or equivalent government programs.
- Experience generating SysML diagrams for product structure, behavior, technical logic, engineering processes, and test execution.
