Software Engineer I (Cloud Network)

Location: On-site in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, California, United States

Compensation: $117,000–$138,000 per year plus bonus; restricted stock units included.

What you will do

• Contribute to cloud network features and implement well-scoped components of larger engineering projects.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable software and contribute to design documentation.
• Test and roll out software across the stack, from bare-metal infrastructure to user-facing APIs.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design activities.
• Develop foundational knowledge of distributed network systems through mentorship, pairing, and collaboration.
• Collaborate across the engineering organization through technical initiatives, open-source exploration, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building or operating software systems through internships, school projects, or approximately one year of professional experience.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Java or Go.
• Basic understanding of Linux fundamentals and computer architecture.
• Familiarity with coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and basic CI/CD or build processes.
• Good communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong desire to learn network systems and distributed computing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Coursework, personal projects, or internship experience involving networking technologies or distributed systems.
• Exposure to BGP, VXLAN, TCP/IP, or Open vSwitch.
• Open-source contributions and an understanding of physical or software-defined networking.
