Senior Software Engineer - Backend (Cloud Networking)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Salary: $111,000–$207,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate secure, reliable, and scalable backend services in a cloud-native environment.
• Own features and projects through requirements, design, implementation, testing, rollout, and ongoing improvement.
• Develop distributed systems and microservices with strong performance, resiliency, and API contracts.
• Support service reliability through monitoring, alerting, automation, and on-call participation where applicable.
• Collaborate with partner teams on architecture, data modeling, and platform integrations.
• Write tested and documented code, participate in code reviews, and improve engineering practices.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience building distributed, highly available backend systems in production.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale services with clear API contracts and end-to-end ownership.
• Systems-level understanding of networking, operating systems, and storage tradeoffs.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, C++, or another programming language, with the ability to work effectively in others.
• Experience with public cloud and Kubernetes or other containerized environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Networking background combined with software engineering experience.
