Money Editor, CNBC Make It

Location: Hybrid role based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with a minimum of three office days per week. Unrestricted work authorization in the United States is required.

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year, bonus eligible.

What you will do

• Edit and publish accurate, clear stories on deadline in a fast-paced digital newsroom.
• Shape structure, readability, tone, voice, multimedia elements, and compliance with editorial and legal standards.
• Write audience-focused headlines, leads, and display copy aligned with CNBC Make It’s brand voice.
• Monitor news developments, identify trends and coverage opportunities, and develop recurring editorial franchises and series.
• Vet, shape, and assign story ideas while collaborating with reporters, producers, senior editors, and audience teams.
• Copy edit and fact check stories while supporting content planning, social strategies, and digital audience engagement.

Requirements

• At least five years of editing experience in a digital newsroom or publishing environment.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and copyediting skills, with the ability to produce clean, engaging copy quickly.
• Strong understanding of digital news production, journalistic standards, and editorial judgment.
• Experience editing short- and long-form content for accuracy, readability, structure, tone, and legal standards.
• Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Background in finance, economics, financial planning, or a related field.
• Experience working with certified financial experts, including CFPs, tax professionals, or financial advisors.
• Experience at a large digital publisher, major online news site, or financial publication.
• Proficiency in AP style and comfort with light photo editing.
• Experience developing editorial franchises, series, and trend-driven coverage.
