Senior Frontend Engineer (React)

Location: Primary residence required in or near one of the listed cities in the United States, Canada, or Mexico; occasional in-person attendance is required.

Salary: $124,000–$214,500 annually in the United States outside California; $151,000–$226,000 annually in California; C$157,500–C$201,000 annually in Canada. The role is also eligible for equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead major workstreams in the Web Modernization program.
• Migrate complex legacy web applications into a modern microfrontend ecosystem.
• Create repeatable migration patterns, shared foundations, and frontend boundaries for other teams.
• Ship production-critical frontend code while maintaining performance, developer experience, and user impact.
• Partner with product, design, backend, and platform teams to deliver end-to-end features.
• Build product features that help publishers upload documents and readers consume them.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional frontend software engineering experience.
• Deep experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Hands-on experience with Next.js or a similar modern web framework.
• Experience with microfrontend architectures, monorepos, or shared frontend platforms.
• Strong understanding of web performance, bundling, and optimization.
• Strong ownership, systems thinking, collaboration, communication, and long-term maintainability focus.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing large, complex, or legacy frontend codebases in production.
• Experience with accessibility, SEO, quality, observability, testing, and migration safety.
• Experience treating frontend architecture as a product for other engineers.
