Director, Software Development

Location: Onsite in San Jose, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $230,000–$315,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus.

What you will do

• Set technical and product strategy for authentication and identity platforms in partnership with Product Management.
• Lead distributed engineering teams through the design, development, and delivery of scalable REST APIs and backend services.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, mentoring, and guidance for engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Drive scalability, reliability, observability, resilience, and zero-downtime deployments across distributed systems.
• Partner with Product, Security, and Platform teams to deliver high-impact features.
• Present product capabilities and technical vision to internal stakeholders, customers, and partners.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software product delivery experience, including products operating at scale for SaaS and/or on-premise customers.
• 8+ years leading distributed, multi-team engineering organizations.
• Experience with identity and authentication platforms.
• Strong background designing and scaling distributed systems and APIs.
• Experience with zero-downtime deployments and highly available production systems.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud deployment on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience leading engineering teams in adopting AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
