Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Space Station Development Facility, United States. Onsite office-based work may include evenings and weekends during critical project milestones.

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, and maintain firmware for ground support equipment and spacesuit avionics.
• Design communication interfaces using UART, SPI, I2C, USB, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, and similar technologies.
• Work with ADCs, DACs, interrupts, DMA, timers, digital potentiometers, and GPIO.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up, hardware/software debugging, and driver development.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop systems, integrate simulation systems, and support verification and validation.
• Produce system documentation, participate in architecture and code reviews, and communicate project status and risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in embedded systems, firmware, and driver development.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python, with experience in modern embedded development practices.
• Experience with hardware bring-up, JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, embedded toolchains, Git, GitLab, continuous integration, and software testing.
• Understanding of real-time constraints, deterministic execution, and safe, reliable embedded design principles.
• Must complete a U.S. government background investigation and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency.
