TL;DR
Hardware Test Engineer (Robotics): Defining and executing test strategies for components, subassemblies, and fully integrated construction robots with an accent on functional, environmental, and life-cycle testing. Focus on building test fixtures and automation, investigating hardware failures, and making evidence-based ship/no-ship decisions for equipment operating in harsh outdoor conditions.

Location: South San Francisco / SF Bay Area, in person. On-site role; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Company

hirify.global develops intelligent robotic systems that combine robotics and AI to autonomously perform labor-intensive construction tasks, verification, and planning, starting with large-scale solar infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Define end-to-end test strategies and translate design requirements into test plans for components, subassemblies, and fully integrated robots.
  • Run functional, environmental, and life-cycle testing in dust, heat, vibration, outdoor conditions, and repeated operating cycles.
  • Build test fixtures and automation to identify hardware failures before shipment.
  • Lead root-cause investigations through teardowns, data analysis, and collaboration with the hardware team.
  • Develop and enforce safety procedures for testing heavy hardware around people and equipment.
  • Produce data-driven reports, maintain requirements traceability, and investigate field incidents to prevent recurring failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, another engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience testing real electromechanical or robotic systems.
  • Ability to write clear test plans, define quantitative acceptance criteria, and make evidence-based ship/no-ship decisions.
  • Comfort working hands-on with heavy machinery outdoors and applying rigorous safety procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership with light supervision in ambiguous environments.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on testing takes place in an outdoor yard and laboratory environment.
  • Work directly with robotics and hardware specialists on systems operating in harsh construction-site conditions.
  • Opportunity to contribute in a ground-up environment with significant ownership and light supervision.
  • Testing supports the development of robotic infrastructure for large-scale solar projects.
