Senior Quality Manager (Defense Manufacturing)

Location: Clarksburg, Maryland, United States; role may require up to 20% travel.

Salary: $135,000–$175,000 per year, plus potential equity and full-time benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with design and production teams to resolve complex quality problems and reduce defects.
• Own CAPAs, support nonconformance investigations, determine root causes, and verify corrective-action effectiveness.
• Lead quality assurance and program reviews, internal audits, third-party audit support, and monthly quality performance reporting.
• Ensure customer, design, and product requirements are incorporated into product and process requirements.
• Maintain quality processes, drive countermeasures for missed KPI/PPI targets, and support APQP, supplier evaluations, and new program launches.
• Manage team activities and budget, develop talent, and serve as an escalation point for Non-Conformance Management Review.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics and 6+ years of quality management experience in defense, aerospace, medical, or automotive manufacturing.
• 6+ years of direct quality management supervisory experience in a relevant manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ISO 9001:2015 auditing, AS9100 or equivalent quality management systems, configuration management, and government or organizational compliance requirements.
• Experience with First Article Inspection, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, 8D, A3 Problem Solving, RCCA, MRB, dimensional inspection, and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance may be required. Ability to travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a STEM field and 8+ years of relevant quality management and supervisory experience.
• ASQ certification, lead auditor certification, IPC standards familiarity, GD&T training, or Lean/Six Sigma experience.
• Compliance and regulatory experience, DMAIC knowledge, and strong customer presentation skills.
