Product Design Engineer (Mechanical)

What you will do

• Own mechanical system architecture, internal layouts, construction strategies, fastening, datums, tolerances, and serviceability.
• Translate industrial design intent into manufacturable solutions while balancing aesthetics, usability, reliability, cost, and schedule.
• Define mechanical interfaces with electrical and hardware engineering, including PCB mounting, connector access, keep-outs, thermal paths, shielding, and grounding.
• Create and release 3D CAD, 2D drawings, specifications, and BOMs in PTC Creo, applying GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
• Plan and support EVT, DVT, PVT, or equivalent prototype builds, validation, issue closure, and root-cause analysis.
• Lead supplier and toolmaker engagement, tooling iterations, DFM/DFA decisions, ECOs, and manufacturing readiness across injection molding, CNC, sheet metal, die casting, and finishing processes.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical or product design experience in consumer electronics or electro-mechanical products.
• Strong proficiency with PTC Creo and the ability to independently produce release-ready part and assembly CAD, drawings, and BOMs.
• Strong knowledge of plastics, metals, injection molding, tooling iteration, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Willingness to travel to support suppliers and contract manufacturers as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with compact, high-volume consumer electronics such as routers, mesh nodes, or gateways.
• Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and toolmakers through T0/T1/Tn iterations.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping, structural simulation or FEA, vibration and shock fundamentals, and PLM/PDM tools.
• A portfolio or work samples are required for second- and third-round interviews; confidential details may be redacted.
