Mechanical Engineer (Electromechanical Products)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States of America; onsite at the Electromechanical equipment division

Salary: $100,000–$115,000 per year

What you will do

• Design small mechanisms, test fixtures, complete machines, and electromechanical systems for product R&D projects.
• Manage concurrent engineering projects and tasks from customer research and concept development through design, build, testing, reporting, and optimization.
• Incorporate customer feedback, requests, and pain points into new design concepts.
• Collaborate with engineering, marketing, manufacturing, service, vendors, and suppliers to integrate requirements into final designs.
• Set up and conduct design verification tests, acquire and analyze data, and document results.
• Contribute to product development and launch deliverables through the stage-gate process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering and 3–6 years of experience designing and developing electromechanical products.
• Experience with machine design incorporating machine elements, structural components, kinematic principles and/or mechanisms, electromechanical component packaging, design for cost, and design for manufacturability.
• Experience designing basic mechanical mechanisms and assemblies.
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA design software such as SolidWorks or an equivalent, as well as GD&T, BOMs, mechanical drawings, and ECOs.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, 3D printing, finishing, material selection, fastening, and assembly operations.
• Ability to collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, service, and other functional groups to incorporate requirements into product designs.
• Familiarity with design verification and testing, including test setup and execution, data acquisition, data analysis, and results documentation.
• Basic understanding of electrical, firmware, and software disciplines sufficient to support product development.
• Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to create, collaborate, and work in team environments.
• Familiarity with product development and launch stage-gate processes, including deliverables from concept through launch.
