Compliance Officer (Fintech)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; hybrid work with 1–2 office days per week

What you will do

• Review, challenge, and approve financial promotions under applicable FCA requirements.
• Provide compliance advice across retail banking products, customer journeys, and Consumer Duty obligations.
• Maintain the compliance framework, including policies, procedures, controls, monitoring, and thematic reviews.
• Advise on regulatory developments, support FCA rule implementation, and contribute to product governance and new product approvals.
• Support regulatory risk assessments, compliance reporting, audits, regulatory enquiries, and investigations of compliance incidents.
• Deliver compliance training and collaborate with Marketing, Product, Operations, Legal, Risk, and Customer Services.

Requirements

• Experience in compliance within a UK retail consumer bank or regulated financial services firm.
• Demonstrable experience reviewing and approving financial promotions under FCA rules.
• Working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, including PRIN, Consumer Duty, DISP, Financial Promotion rules, and relevant COBS requirements.
• Experience providing pragmatic advice to first-line business teams and working with compliance monitoring, regulatory risk management, and governance.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, written, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial objectives and manage multiple priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience with consumer lending, savings, current accounts, or other retail banking products.
• Experience supporting regulatory change programmes or interacting with the Financial Conduct Authority.
• Knowledge of vulnerable customer requirements and CONC or BCOBS.
• Professional compliance qualification, such as an ICA Diploma or Advanced Certificate.
