Director of Compliance and Risk (UK) (Fintech)

Location: United Kingdom; hybrid role based in London, with at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: £100,000–£150,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain compliance frameworks aligned with UK regulatory requirements.
• Lead regulatory readiness for UK market entry, licensing, ongoing supervision, and FCA engagement.
• Build policies and controls covering AML, KYC, data privacy, consumer duty, distribution, and claims compliance.
• Establish risk assessments, remediation plans, monitoring, testing, reporting, internal audits, and control reviews.
• Oversee product compliance, marketing reviews, pricing governance, distribution oversight, and complaint handling.
• Partner with product, operations, legal, marketing, and commercial teams and deliver compliance training.

Requirements

• 8+ years of compliance, risk, or regulatory experience in financial services, insurance, insurtech, or fintech.
• Deep understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, FCA rules, and consumer duty requirements.
• Experience designing policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing complex compliance programs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience dealing with regulators.
• Experience with digital platforms, distribution, or insurance products is preferred.
• Must be based in the UK and work from the London office at least 3 days per week.

• Experience in start-up or high-growth environments.
• Previous SMF experience.
• Background in insurtech, digital distribution, or online marketplaces.
• Knowledge of GDPR, AML, sanctions, or cross-border compliance.
