TL;DR
Propulsion Test Engineer (Aerospace): Planning, executing, and analyzing propulsion and energetic-system test campaigns, including test-stand setup, rocket-engine hot-fire operations, and high-speed instrumentation, with an accent on hardware validation, safety, and data-driven performance analysis. Focus on designing ground-support systems, troubleshooting high-pressure and cryogenic fluid setups, and resolving complex hardware issues during rapid development and flight-test campaigns.

Location: Victorville, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $80,000–$140,000 per year for Propulsion Test Engineer; $145,000–$170,000 per year for Senior Propulsion Test Engineer. Equity may be included.

Company

hirify.global is a defense technology startup founded in 2023 that develops autonomous, scalable, decentralized defense platforms and advanced propulsion systems.

What you will do

  • Design and maintain propulsion test stands and ground-support systems for static-fire and development testing.
  • Plan, lead, and support component-level and full-scale integrated rocket-engine hot-fire test campaigns.
  • Collect and analyze pressure, temperature, and thrust data using high-speed sensors and instrumentation.
  • Validate propulsion-system performance against specifications and support rapid hardware iteration.
  • Execute hazardous operations involving high-pressure systems and cryogenic propellants, including liquid oxygen.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and flight-test teams during development programs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in propulsion, aerospace, automotive, industrial testing, mechanical development, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience with mechanical assemblies, fluid or pressure systems, propulsion hardware, test operations, troubleshooting, and hardware iteration.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, assembly instructions, and test procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with shop equipment, torque tools, tubing tools, pressure equipment, and diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Strong systems-thinking and troubleshooting skills, with willingness to work extended hours and travel short-term during active campaigns.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment may require authorization to access U.S.-controlled technology under EAR and ITAR without export-license sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with rocket engines, turbine engines, thrusters, UAV propulsion systems, or aerospace propulsion hardware.
  • Familiarity with propulsion test cells, data-acquisition systems, instrumentation, and engine calibration.
  • Experience with cryogenic, pneumatic, or hazardous-fluid systems such as LOX, GN2, or GHe.
  • A&P certification, military propulsion-maintenance experience, aerospace technical training, or flight-test and defense-program experience.
  • Welding, tubing fabrication, precision mechanical assembly, cleanroom, contamination-control, or aerospace-quality documentation experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Startup-style environment focused on rapid manufacturing, innovation, and national-security applications.
  • Equity participation and performance-based incentives.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
  • Funding for continuing education, training, and professional development.
  • Transparent compensation tiers and benefits structure.
