Design Director — Digital

Location: Hybrid, based in or relocating to one of the offices in Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Oslo, Berlin, or Bonn. Remote applicants are not considered.

What you will do

• Define the creative and systemic direction for complex, large-scale web projects.
• Lead projects from early narrative and concept through delivery.
• Translate vision into scalable structures, patterns, and design systems.
• Collaborate closely with strategy, copy, brand, product, motion, and engineering specialists.
• Develop perspectives on the evolution of the web and turn them into practical work.
• Mentor designers and contribute to scoping, pitches, new business, and the growth of the web discipline.

Requirements

• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of large-scale web experiences.
• Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to connect narrative, interaction, and systems.
• Experience building scalable frameworks rather than only individual pages.
• Confidence collaborating with engineers and product teams.
• Experience leading and developing design teams.
• Experience managing client and stakeholder relationships, balancing vision with delivery.
