Principal UX Designer (Game Development)

Annual salary: $185,000–$230,000

What you will do

• Own the game's end-to-end UX, including player journeys, friction points, gameplay flows, and information architecture.
• Design and ship high-quality UI/UX for an upcoming title, working directly in Unreal Engine 5 and partnering with the UI Engineer.
• Manage UI asset production across in-house craft, AI-assisted tooling, and external support.
• Establish UX/UI standards, systems, and style guides while setting the discipline's craft bar.
• Represent design in cross-functional efforts, mentor contributors, and improve the discipline's tools and practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a UX and UI expert.
• Track record of owning ambiguous, high-complexity design problems with minimal oversight.
• Experience shipping games and understanding the requirements of game production.
• Strong systems thinking and empathy for diverse player needs.
• Fast, hands-on proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 or a comparable engine.
• Experience building or scaling UX/UI standards for a team and mentoring designers.
