Backend Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid with office attendance three days a week

Salary: $135,000–$250,000 per year, plus potential restricted stock units, sign-on bonus, and other incentives

What you will do

• Build and own reliable, maintainable, and scalable production-facing backend services.
• Develop real-time API integrations and data services that power the application layer.
• Build and operate Kafka-based streaming systems, Spark jobs, and Airflow data pipelines.
• Translate product and customer requirements into durable platform designs.
• Make thoughtful technical tradeoffs and design infrastructure that anticipates future product needs.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend software development experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and owning production-facing services.
• Experience with relational database backends, Django, or similar technologies.
• Experience building distributed systems and backend services.
• Experience with AWS, Terraform, EKS, and cloud systems.
• Strong desire to join an early team and create foundational systems.

Nice to have

• Experience building and integrating with external APIs.
• Experience building ETL and data pipelines.
