Welder (Subsea Geothermal)

hirify.global is a pre-revenue startup developing modular subsea geothermal power plants that convert ocean-floor thermal resources into baseload power.

What you will do

• Develop welding processes and fabricate heat exchangers for subsea geothermal power plants.
• Perform TIG and handheld laser welding of Inconel, stainless steel, and titanium.
• Fit, tack, and weld complex multi-material assemblies and thick-walled process piping for extreme high-pressure systems.
• Support rapid prototyping, machining, fabrication modifications, and first-of-a-kind manufacturing.
• Collaborate with engineers to qualify welding procedures and troubleshoot fit-up and welding issues.
• Document assembly steps, test procedures, and observations while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized fabrication shop.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional TIG welding experience with Inconel, stainless steel, and titanium.
• Proficiency in handheld laser beam welding or willingness to train in laser processes.
• Understanding of weld quality standards for high-pressure, high-temperature systems, including weld metallurgy, joint design, purging, filler selection, heat input, and distortion control.
• Experience fitting and welding complex assemblies to tight tolerances, with familiarity with fabrication tools, machining, and precision measurement.
• Ability to read detailed engineering drawings and weld symbols; AWS D17.1 or ASME Section IX experience is preferred.
• Strong safety, communication, documentation, and continuous-improvement practices in a prototype-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with pressure vessels or process piping for 10,000 psi systems.
• Experience with ASME code work or WPS/PQR development.
• Background in aerospace, energy, or marine fabrication.
• Ability to perform visual and dye penetrant inspections.
• CWI or other welding inspection certification.
