AI Systems Researcher

Location: San Francisco or New York; hybrid with 3+ days per week in-office, Tuesday–Thursday

Salary: $150K–$250K base salary per year, depending on experience, location, and level; additional equity and benefits included.

What you will do

• Design compound, end-to-end AI systems combining perception, reasoning, planning, and execution.
• Integrate LLMs, retrievers, evaluators, memory systems, and execution agents into robust, scalable architectures.
• Research coordination, information flow, and emergent behavior across multiple agents and models.
• Investigate principles of robustness, composability, and alignment in intelligent systems.
• Build prototypes and run experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of research ideas for enterprise customers.

Requirements

• Research experience focused on building with models and intelligent systems rather than only training or fine-tuning models.
• Expertise in compound AI systems, agentic collaboration, or related techniques such as ensembling, ReAct, and graph-of-thoughts.
• Proven track record of research results, demonstrated through publications or other substantial work.
• Strong programming and data analysis skills sufficient to prototype ideas and validate them experimentally.
• Ability to use modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor, and Perplexity in daily work.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco or New York office at least three days per week.
