Applied AI Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design and build AI-powered product experiences for finance and spend management.
• Develop chat experiences, finance copilots, autonomous workflows, and internal AI tools.
• Build production-grade AI systems with LLMs, structured financial data, APIs, business logic, vector search, hybrid retrieval, text-to-SQL, OCR, and document understanding.
• Design solutions using tool calling, retrieval, agentic workflows, deterministic logic, or combinations of these approaches.
• Make AI systems observable, explainable, reliable, and protected by guardrails and quality monitoring.
• Create evaluation approaches, experiment with new models, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to ship useful features.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience and experience shipping AI-powered products or features into production.
• Strong software engineering skills in Java with Spring Boot and/or the Python ecosystem.
• Knowledge of distributed architecture patterns, cloud infrastructure, Terraform, and scalable backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with tool calling, memory, structured outputs, RAG, embeddings, agentic loops, and AI evaluation.
• Ability to design systems where AI is one component of a larger architecture and to combine experimentation with production-quality engineering.
• Strong communication skills, product mindset, and comfort working cross-functionally.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or LangGraph and a strong understanding of the underlying concepts.
• Experience in fintech, accounting, spend management, payments, or banking.
