Software Integration Engineer - Data and Network (Robotics)

Location: Clarksburg, MD, United States; in-office position with approximately 25–35% travel to program sites

What you will do

• Monitor field data pipelines, diagnose capture and upload failures, and drive issues to resolution.
• Provide Level 2 remote support for field networking, operator control stations, and message-transport systems.
• Debug Linux systems, networks, data tooling, and communications infrastructure, either fixing issues directly or coordinating with engineering owners.
• Read and write Python to inspect, patch, and improve support and automation scripts.
• Document recurring issues and fixes to help Level 1 staff resolve problems independently.
• Provide hands-on Level 1 support at program sites and contribute to software development, tooling, and infrastructure tasks when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and end-to-end troubleshooting.
• Comfort with Linux command-line debugging, including logs, services, processes, and connectivity.
• Ability to read and write Python for scripting and troubleshooting.
• Clear communication skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems.
• Willingness to work in the office, travel to program sites approximately 25–35% of the year, and potentially obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting deployed field systems or remote sites, data pipelines, upload workflows, or large-file data movement.
• Experience with tactical networking, including mesh radios, unreliable links, NAT, and gateways.
• Exposure to DevOps practices such as CI/CD, containers, configuration management, monitoring, and alerting.
• Experience with Bash, cloud or on-premises storage, C/C++, help-desk, IT, field-service, or Tier 2 support.
• Interest in robotics, autonomy, and field-deployment operations.
