Software Engineer/Senior Software Engineer - AI Platform (Agent Runtime)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, USA; hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: $156,000–$234,000 USD for Boulder; $148,200–$264,000 USD for additional US locations

What you will do

• Design and build secure, isolated runtime services for enterprise AI agent execution.
• Implement deterministic policy enforcement for data, context, tools, and model access.
• Define interfaces and contracts between maincar, sidecar, runtime, and partner components.
• Improve performance, scalability, resilience, and reliability for high-concurrency workloads.
• Build telemetry, logging, observability, and audit traces for runtime behavior and policy decisions.
• Participate in architecture reviews, incident response, operational hardening, and cross-functional delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience for the Software Engineer level.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including architecting, building, and scaling robust systems, for the Senior Software Engineer level.
• 6+ years of experience building backend or platform systems for the Senior Software Engineer level.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, APIs, and service-oriented architecture.
• Experience building secure systems with least-privilege patterns and policy controls.
• Proficiency in at least one systems or backend language: Java, Go, Rust, or Python; experience operating production services with reliability and observability practices.
