Senior Software Engineer, Agents (AI)

Location: San Francisco, New York City, or London office hub; minimum two in-office days per week. Occasional team and company offsites are required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 USD annual base salary, plus discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build backend services for AI agent orchestration and execution.
• Develop scalable APIs and platform capabilities for tool use, workflow orchestration, memory, and state management.
• Build reliable infrastructure for long-running, distributed AI workflows.
• Collaborate with product, research, Core Platform, Training & Experimentation, Sandboxes, and Optimized Compute teams to bring agent capabilities into production.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, performance, testing, automation, and continuous delivery.
• Evaluate technical architecture, reduce technical debt, improve developer tooling, and mentor engineers in system design and distributed systems.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building scalable backend systems with Go, Python, Rust, or similar languages.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, APIs, and cloud-native application architecture.
• Experience designing and operating production services at scale, including backend platforms, developer tools, or infrastructure products.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience owning large technical initiatives from architecture through production.
• Strong communication, collaboration, software quality, automated testing, observability, and continuous delivery practices.
