TL;DR
Sr. Structures Engineer (Aerospace Structures): Leading clean-sheet structural design and analysis for aerospace vehicles and propulsion platforms with an accent on fatigue, buckling, stability, strength assessments, CAD ownership, and finite element analysis. Focus on defining vehicle loads, supporting structural testing and flight qualification, and developing engineering standards and processes for a growing structures team.

Location: On-site in Houston, Texas, United States; travel may be required to support operations, vendors, or other activities.

What you will do

  • Lead clean-sheet structural design and analysis for aerospace vehicles and related hardware.
  • Perform fatigue, buckling, stability, and strength assessments using hand calculations and finite element analysis, with ANSYS preferred.
  • Own NX and/or CATIA CAD models, including large assemblies and release processes.
  • Define structural loads with GNC, propulsion, avionics, and systems teams.
  • Support structural test campaigns and flight qualification planning.
  • Develop internal standards, processes, documentation, and team capabilities while collaborating across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of finite element analysis experience and 3+ years of CAD experience, including large assembly management.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations, first-principles analysis, and fatigue analysis methods.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or otherwise eligible to work on ITAR-restricted programs and comply with U.S. export controls.

Nice to have

  • Experience with random vibration, vibration testing, coupled loads analysis, and flight qualification.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing, producibility, materials, buckling, structural joints, damage tolerance, or vibration.
  • Background in multi-stage rockets, aircraft, or spacecraft.
  • Experience creating engineering standards and internal procedures.
  • Familiarity with TeamCenter, Dassault systems software, Jira, and Confluence.
