TL;DR
Senior Linux Graphics Engineer (Vulkan): Migrating a Windows-based real-time renderer to production-quality Linux and Vulkan for high-fidelity autonomous-system simulation with an accent on cross-platform correctness, GPU performance, and sensor output validation. Focus on building regression harnesses, closing DirectX/Vulkan backend gaps, optimizing cloud GPU execution, and extending rendering with wide-angle views, reconstruction, and lighting techniques.

Location: Fully remote within North America; PST working hours.

Base salary: $155,000–$175,000 per year.

Company

hirify.global builds a platform for validating autonomous vehicles, robots, and other Physical AI systems in high-fidelity virtual environments.

What you will do

  • Own the migration of a Windows-based renderer to production-quality Linux on Nvidia graphics using Vulkan.
  • Diagnose and resolve differences between DirectX and Vulkan backends, including memory usage, shader compilation, driver behavior, synchronization, and rendering artifacts.
  • Build comparison harnesses and regression tests to verify equivalent output across platforms and supported camera, lidar, and radar configurations.
  • Establish GPU and CPU profiling workflows on Linux, identify bottlenecks, and optimize rendering performance.
  • Contribute to wide-angle and multi-view rendering, Gaussian splatting, lighting, and GPU computation initiatives.
  • Partner with build, infrastructure, and simulation engineers across containerized applications, build systems, and cloud GPU instances.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in real-time graphics or engine programming, including shipping at least one product.
  • Production experience writing and debugging Vulkan render paths, including memory allocation, descriptor management, synchronization, and validation layers.
  • Production Linux graphics experience with GPU drivers, Mesa or vendor stacks, shader toolchains, compositors, containers, and debugging tools.
  • Strong modern C++ skills in a large codebase with a serious build system and CI.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing GPU and CPU performance with tools such as RenderDoc, Nsight, or equivalents.
  • Ability to independently scope and deliver complex graphics work and communicate technical trade-offs clearly.

Nice to have

  • Experience shipping Unreal Engine 5.5+ on Linux with the Vulkan RHI and familiarity with Unreal rendering internals.
  • Meaningful contributions to Vulkan-related open source projects such as Mesa, DXVK/VKD3D, Proton, SPIR-V tooling, or validation layers.
  • Experience porting renderers between DirectX 11/12 and Vulkan.
  • Background in video streaming, cloud gaming, remote rendering, sensor simulation, physically based rendering, neural rendering, or Gaussian splatting.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative culture focused on building and scaling simulation technology.
  • Equity and employer-paid supplemental medical, mental health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Flexible paid vacation, sick time, winter shutdown, and 11+ holidays annually.
  • Paid parental leave and an equipment budget.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
