Location: Remote or hybrid in Sunnyvale, CA. Must be based in the US.

Salary: $160,200–$246,300

What you will do

  • Advance light transport in an OptiX-based renderer, improving path tracing fidelity and sampling strategies.
  • Own and extend physically-based materials through NVIDIA MDL integration and energy conservation models.
  • Develop spectral and radiometric pipelines for physically-grounded sensor output.
  • Push atmospheric and volumetric rendering capabilities, including spectral sky models and multi-scattering clouds.
  • Improve camera image formation, including ISP pipelines, lens effects, and sensor noise modeling.
  • Profile and optimize the per-frame GPU pipeline to maintain performance within simulation budgets.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the US; no immigration sponsorship provided.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on real-time or physically-based rendering.
  • Deep expertise in physically-based rendering, BRDF/microfacet theory, and Monte Carlo path tracing.
  • Strong modern C++ (17/20) skills with experience in performance optimization and system design.
  • Significant GPU programming experience using CUDA and ray tracing APIs like OptiX.
  • Solid grounding in rendering mathematics, radiometry, and color science.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NVIDIA MDL, OSL, or other physically-based material systems.
  • Familiarity with OpenUSD scene description and asset pipelines.
  • Experience integrating rendering output into robotics or AV data stacks using ROS.
  • Background in camera/sensor imaging, ISP pipelines, or machine learning synthetic data generation.
