Senior Build Reliability Engineer (Machining)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the connection between design requirements, manufacturing execution, and flight performance for machined spacecraft hardware.
• Identify, investigate, and eliminate build defects and failures through root cause analysis, containment, and corrective actions.
• Develop inspection requirements, acceptance criteria, quality-control processes, and build quality metrics.
• Perform development testing and provide design-for-reliability guidance during design reviews and build planning.
• Optimize MRP/ERP modules for hardware traceability and data collection while maintaining efficient inspection and test processes.
• Coordinate with technicians, production teams, supply chain, and vendors; own training, certification, and specification control for manufacturing quality processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or high-reliability systems.
• Experience supporting production builds, integration, or testing of primary structures and/or complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, with theoretical and practical knowledge of GD&T.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of build reliability experience with spacecraft, launch vehicles, aviation, robotics, or defense hardware.
• Practical experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, FMEA, reliability growth, or Weibull analysis.
• Experience supporting rapid development or prototype-to-production transitions.
• Technical familiarity with machining programming, setups, tooling, machine types, equipment maintenance, and process optimization.
