Head of People

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations. Relocation assistance is available if applicable.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year, plus performance incentive, equity, and bonus.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Manage recruiting operations with hiring managers and recruiters while maintaining a high hiring bar.
• Build scalable people policies, processes, documentation, and operating procedures.
• Own HRIS administration, employee records, people reporting, and HR operations.
• Lead employee development, manager coaching, and employee experience initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in People Operations, Human Resources, or HR Business Partner roles.
• Experience building and scaling people programs covering compensation, performance management, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Experience building people processes, maintaining HR systems, and using data to improve operational efficiency.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities.
• Experience supporting high-growth or technical organizations with aggressive hiring goals.

Nice to have

• Experience as one of the first People hires or building the People function at an early-stage or growth-stage startup.
• Experience improving efficiency through systems, automation, and process design.
• Familiarity with defense technology, aerospace, hardware, manufacturing, or another highly technical industry.
