Описание вакансии
Текст:
TL;DR
Optical Designer (Quantum Sensing): Designing and optimizing imaging optics and illumination systems for quantum sensing measurement instruments with an accent on high-resolution wide-field imaging, illumination uniformity, and stray-light control. Focus on creating high-NA optical systems, modeling and tolerancing in ZEMAX, validating prototypes on the bench, and transferring manufacturable designs to production.
Location: München, Germany; onsite
Company
is a deep-tech spin-off of TU Munich developing quantum-sensor-based systems for three-dimensional current mapping and semiconductor chip testing.
What you will do
- Build illumination and imaging optics for NV-diamond quantum sensors, covering excitation and fluorescence collection.
- Design custom high-NA, wide-field, long-working-distance objectives and complete optical architectures.
- Own optical subsystems from concept and design through tolerancing, prototyping, production, and improvement.
- Model imaging performance, illumination uniformity, stray light, and artifacts in sequential and non-sequential ZEMAX.
- Design illumination sources, beam homogenization, shaping, filtering, dichroic schemes, pupils, relays, and telecentric systems.
- Build, align, test, and characterize prototypes, reconcile measurements with simulations, and transfer specifications to production.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing real optical systems.
- Demonstrated optical-design ability; optics, photonics, or physics experience is typical but no specific degree is required.
- Fluency in sequential and non-sequential ZEMAX.
- Strong knowledge of radiometry, etendue, brightness, aberrations, MTF, error budgets, and tolerancing.
- Python or similar scripting experience, hands-on alignment and metrology skills, and experience with interferometers, collimators, or optical test benches.
- Working language: English; the role is based onsite in München, Germany.
Nice to have
- Experience with high-power illumination sources and laser safety.
- Knowledge of quantum sensing, NV centers, or ODMR.
- Experience in semiconductor inspection, metrology, or failure analysis.
Culture & Benefits
- Work on quantum-sensing technology for semiconductor debugging and yield analysis.
- Collaborate with physicists, engineers, data scientists, semiconductor manufacturers, and vendors.
- 30 vacation days plus public holidays.
- Company-sponsored Wellpass membership with access to gyms, classes, and wellness offers across Germany.
- Annual budget for courses, conferences, and professional development resources.
- Equity program, regular off-sites, and team events.
