Technical Writer (Defense Robotics)

hirify.global is a defense startup developing an autonomous counter-drone turret using computer vision, robotics, embedded control systems, and software.

What you will do

• Gather and document technical information about computer vision, control systems, robotics hardware, and embedded software.
• Create and maintain operator manuals, user guides, system integration documents, maintenance procedures, and safety documentation.
• Develop government-facing technical deliverables aligned with DoD and MIL-SPEC standards, including MIL-STD-40051 and S1000D.
• Document hardware assembly, wiring, system diagrams, schematics, and maintenance procedures with mechanical and electrical engineers.
• Produce technical narratives, statements of work, and program documentation for proposals and government contracts.
• Manage version control and submit documentation deliverables according to contractual requirements and review timelines.

Requirements

• 3–7 years of technical writing experience, including work with defense, aerospace, robotics, or hardware systems.
• Familiarity with DoD documentation standards, ITAR compliance requirements, and MIL-SPEC writing guidelines.
• Experience incorporating technical illustrations, system diagrams, and schematics into documentation for complex hardware or electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office, Confluence, and XML editors.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced startup environment.
