What you will do
- Develop and maintain operational documentation for network, cloud, security, and field deployment systems.
- Identify which documents engineers use, map existing materials against program deliverables, and remove obsolete content.
- Gather technical knowledge from busy engineers and convert it into accurate, findable procedures.
- Prepare contract-required documentation for federal review, ensuring completeness, formatting, handling, and marking requirements.
- Keep documentation synchronized with system changes and make stale content visible.
- Create templates, standards, and documentation practices that can be followed across the program.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience documenting technical systems outside your own area of expertise.
- Practical experience working on a federal program and handling controlled information.
- Experience building documentation standards and obtaining input from engineers without direct authority.
- Fluency with Markdown, Confluence, SharePoint, and standard document tools.
- Active CBP Background Investigation (CBP BI) and EOD are strongly preferred; candidates without them may begin the CBP BI process.
Nice to have
- Active CBP BI, a fitness determination from another DHS component, or an active DoD clearance.
- A portfolio of technical documents used by real audiences.
