Lead Technical Writer (Aerospace)

Location: Based in Mojave, California, with hybrid options available; relocation eligible to the local Mojave area.

Salary: $120,000–$155,000 per year

What you will do

• Create and support technical, engineering, operational, maintenance, systems description, training, and report documentation.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce accurate and suitable company documentation.
• Maintain, update, and configuration-manage documentation and technical libraries.
• Build templates, automated workflows, enterprise documentation tools, and knowledge-management processes.
• Evaluate and recommend document-management tools aligned with industry best practices.
• Train personnel on documentation tools, systems, and processes while supporting other writers.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience with documentation publishing and/or management software.
• Excellent organization, multitasking, attention to detail, initiative, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio, plus professional document creation and management tools.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant education, training, and experience.
• Ability to work from the Mojave, California area; hybrid arrangements may be discussed.
• Ability to ensure documentation complies with ITAR and other applicable regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience producing technical documents in the aerospace industry.
• At least 5 years of experience building technical libraries.
• At least 2 years of experience creating or working with S1000D-compliant documents and systems.
• Experience creating or working with hypertext internal documentation processes.
• Experience with JIRA and/or SharePoint.
