Location: Full-time, on-site in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States. The role may include occasional local field or on-site deployments and off-hours work. The position may involve access to U.S. export-controlled information; only applicants meeting the applicable U.S. person definition may be eligible.
Salary: $30–$50 per hour, depending on experience.

is a startup developing advanced fission power plants, nuclear fuel recycling technologies, and a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes.
What you will do
- Fabricate, assemble, instrument, commission, and operate mechanical and thermal-hydraulic test rigs from sketches, CAD, drawings, and work orders.
- Prepare stock and parts using saws, grinders, drills, manual mills, lathes, and common hand and power tools.
- Set up and execute thermal-hydraulic, mechanical, and tribology tests, including fixture construction and data capture.
- Install and calibrate sensors, troubleshoot build and test issues, and support test campaigns.
- Inspect incoming parts, verify dimensions and finishes, manage shop inventory, and coordinate quick-turn vendor services.
- Create and maintain redlines, as-built notes, BOM updates, work instructions, and other build documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma and 3+ years of hands-on mechanical fabrication, assembly, or test operator experience, or equivalent trade-school, military, or portfolio training.
- Familiarity with process equipment and the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and build notes, understand basic tolerances and fit, and accurately use calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of shop safety, PPE, housekeeping, machine guarding, and LOTO basics; ability to lift approximately 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to set up simple test rigs, record data in spreadsheets, use basic computer tools and CAD viewers, and follow documentation and inventory procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to support occasional off-hours work or local field deployments.
Nice to have
- MIG/TIG welding, A&P license, or an associate degree in manufacturing, industrial technology, or engineering technology.
- R&D test experience and instrumentation knowledge, including strain gauges, load cells, thermocouples, pressure transducers, NI/LabVIEW, or Dewesoft.
- Experience with heat treatment, coatings, adhesives, composites, plastics, additive manufacturing, ISO 9001/AS9100, forklifts, overhead cranes, or load calculations.
