Principal / Staff Robotics Perception Engineer (AI & Computer Vision): Building and optimizing production perception pipelines for autonomous retail robots with an accent on computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, calibration, and edge inference. What you will do

  • Lead the design, evaluation, integration, and optimization of production perception pipelines for Tally robots, including detection, segmentation, depth estimation, tracking, sensor fusion, localization, and camera calibration.
  • Integrate computer vision models with robot software to improve navigation, localization, scene understanding, autonomy, and system reliability.
  • Profile and optimize real-time neural network inference on robot hardware using Python, C++, ONNX, TensorRT, CUDA, and embedded GPU workflows.
  • Research and apply visual SLAM, visual odometry, open-vocabulary detection and segmentation, multimodal perception, and simulation techniques.
  • Define benchmarks connecting model quality with latency, compute, uptime, navigation success, localization robustness, and customer-facing accuracy.
  • Diagnose field failures using robot logs, imagery, maps, telemetry, and model outputs while providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, code reviews, and mentorship.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in robotic perception, computer vision, machine learning, autonomous systems, or production robotics.
  • Strong Python and C++ skills in Linux-based development environments.
  • Hands-on experience with ROS and/or ROS2, robot sensor pipelines, and deployed robotics systems.
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, TensorRT, CUDA, or similar model training and inference tools.
  • Experience with object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, sensor fusion, calibration, visual localization, or SLAM.
  • Experience deploying real-time AI models on embedded systems, edge GPUs, robots, or other constrained hardware, plus experience with LLM-assisted and agentic programming techniques.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AMRs, autonomous vehicles, drones, warehouse robotics, industrial automation, or service robots.
  • Experience with stereo, RGBD, LiDAR, fisheye, or depth sensors and multi-camera calibration.
  • Knowledge of visual SLAM, visual odometry, map alignment, path planning, or localization in dynamic indoor environments.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac ROS, Omniverse, Jetson/Orin, or GPU-accelerated robotics pipelines.
  • Experience taking research prototypes into production robotics software and building fleet-scale perception evaluation and debugging tools.
