TL;DR
Computer Vision & Robotics Navigation Engineer (SLAM/SfM, 3D Vision): Building and maintaining spatial computing systems, calibration algorithms, and internal tooling for robotics data infrastructure with an accent on multi-view geometry, sensor synchronization, and real-world hardware reliability. Focus on improving SLAM and SfM pipelines, modeling IMU noise, calibrating multi-camera rigs, and creating visualization tools for trajectory and spatial data inspection.

Location: On-site in New York City, United States; physical presence is required for hardware testing and local prototyping with custom multi-sensor camera rigs.

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Own, maintain, optimize, and improve SLAM, VIO, and Structure from Motion pipelines across custom camera rigs and iPhones.
  • Define, validate, and troubleshoot intrinsic and extrinsic calibration requirements for multi-camera systems and IMUs.
  • Address temporal synchronization, rolling shutter correction, IMU pre-integration, noise modeling, and trajectory robustness.
  • Collaborate with the hardware team in China on sensor calibration and hardware-related navigation challenges.
  • Provide computer vision support for preprocessing, postprocessing, data validation, and automated labeling.
  • Build internal tools with technologies such as Gradio and Rerun to visualize images, video, point clouds, trajectories, and spatial labeling failures.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in 3D computer vision, multi-view geometry, SLAM, VIO, or SfM pipelines.
  • Deep knowledge of IMU kinematics, noise density, random-walk bias, camera calibration, lens distortion, and sensor fusion.
  • Experience with spatial data from custom camera rigs and mobile devices, including iPhones.
  • Strong foundations in linear algebra, optimization, traditional computer vision, and spatial tracking.
  • Production software engineering experience with clean, efficient, scalable code, especially in C++ and Python.
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones and communicate technical calibration requirements with hardware teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience building dataset browsers, annotation tools, model debugging dashboards, or Gradio-style computer vision applications.
  • Experience with calibration and sensor fusion frameworks such as Kalibr.
  • Exposure to machine learning infrastructure or large-scale data pipelines.
